In recent years, the telecommunications market in Portugal has been mostly dominated by MEO, NOS and Vodafone, with NOWO lurking around. More recently, LigaT arrived in our country with regional implementation, there is Woo with NOS infrastructure and Digi is scheduled to arrive in 2024.
But none of those are the ones we’re talking about today. As revealed in recent days, there is a new operator called “Amigo” that is now available in Portugal. It describes itself as “a friend to your wallet, with fixed and mobile internet at an always low price”, on the official website.
Operator Amigo uses Vodafone infrastructure
Unlike LigaT, which has its own infrastructure, Amigo uses the infrastructure of an already well-established operator: Vodafone. The objective, as you read above, is to bring new offers to those looking for a new mobile network or fixed network tariff at home.
In the case of mobile networks, this provides two options: 4 GB of mobile data for 10 euros per month or 15 GB for 20 euros per month. If you port to Amigo, you have access to 6 GB of additional data per month for 24 months.
Mobile network and fixed network options on Amigo
You also have 20 GB in the first month, exemption from the first monthly fee and it is worth highlighting that there is no loyalty. In both plans you are entitled to 2000 minutes and SMS per month for all networks.
In the case of fixed Internet plans, users have access to 100 Mbps for 27 euros per month. If they opt for 1 Gbps it will cost 37 euros. In both cases, there is the classic two-year loyalty period.
As with other operators, you can combine the mobile and landline network on the same bill. In this case, for 200 Mbps and 6GB on your smartphone you will pay 35 euros per month or 40 euros for 20 GB per month.
In the 1 Gbps plan combined with 6 GB of mobile network you will pay 45 euros per month, jumping to 50 euros in the option with 20 GB of mobile network. In this combined plan you have access to 5000 minutes and SMS per month.
This is a new operator that you can get to know better and know how to join on the official website. Physically, Amigo is also now available at a kiosk in the Colombo Shopping Center, in Lisbon.
